    Can no longer connect to Xbox Live through Ethernet into laptop


    I have been connecting my 360 to live with an ehternet cord plugged into my laptop. Live was working perfectly fine but a few days ago I turned the 360 on and it can't connect. It says it cannot obtain the IP address. I do know my IP address and subnet mask
    and so on. I have entered it all manually many times now. I have reset the router, xbox, loaded it certain ways and so on. It can't connect. I have restored to factory settings and cleared the cache 3 times. I have made sure all the ports had access and my
    wifi allowed for sharing still. I have turned firewall on and off. I replaced the etnernet cord. Nothing changes. I have no idea why all the sudden it can no longer connect to the internet. Any suggestions or ideas that are different from what I have done?

    Can You connect with a dongle to xbox live?

    Hi DEPUTYdogdave,

    You cannot use the dongle directly in the Xbox Console, however what you may be able to do is bridge/share the wireless connection from your laptop through an Ethernet Cable. Basically:

    - Laptop connects to 3G through Dongle/Wireless

    - Laptop connects to Xbox through ethernet cable

    - Laptop shares the 3G connection to Xbox through ethernet

    To do this, please see the following page:

    yes, i did everything. oddly enough, the only way i can connect to Xbox Live is by sharing my connection through ethernet from my laptop to my xbox. it doesn't connect directly to the router. everything else (laptop + iphone) works fine though

    You can not connect your Xbox to your internet via Ethernet through your laptop. The port on your laptop is to be plugged into your router or cable modem if you what your laptop to have a wired connection. If you want your Xbox to be wired, then you need
