    Can my Xbox One get a virus using the web browser?


    If I go on certain websites on my Xbox One, can it get a virus?

    Also someone told me that the Xbox One can get a virus, but the virus would only run in the web browser app. Is this true? And does that mean it wouldn't affect the performance of my games or the dashboard?

    Xbox one elite purchased 30/1/16 has virus

    Both the Xbox One OS and Edge on Xbox One are in lock down. You could go to the most nastiest virus, malware infested website on the web and your console still won't get a virus.

    No it is pretty much impossible to get a virus on the Xbox One. Some people mistake it as a possibility due to the Windows-like architecture but the Internet Explorer app does not download data, so on that front, you are safe.

    Hello again, you can do the procedure below once, if the slowdown persists do again, and in the last case would be a console reset.

    Cache Xbox One

    The first is a cache cleanup:

    1. Go to xbox press and hold the XBOX power button on your console for 10 seconds until it turns off

    2. Wait 10 seconds for it to turn off

    3. Wait 1 minute with it off

    4. Turn it back on
