can Microsoft do something about console scalpers?

anyone can purchase a product then sell that product on at a mark up, it is immoral what scalpers do but is 100% legal and microsoft cannot do jack about it as they are legal sales. it is not piracy of any kind, they are also no hackers, anyone can make or use a simple script bot to purchase something when it becomes available.

you sound sour, don't forget there is a massive chip shortage which is actually causing more issues than scalpers would ever do, and it is affecting everything from cars, white goods, cpu's, gpu's consoles and phones and many many other things too.

‘Thanks’ for the info on the console is available at Walmart! It’s being sold through them by scalpers for about $1K!!! NOT doing it. We’re past the point of COVID excuses , the scalpers have plenty of inventory! Stop feeding the scalpers and sell to your customer base! I won’t be buying one for more than the suggested retail of ~$500.00! Im done waiting and searching for rumored online release dates only to be wiped by scalpers in minutes !!!

Walmart and Gamestop seem to be restocking fairly frequently. I'm not sure about other retailers. It helps to be signed up for notifications and then you have to be quick about it.

As far as scalpers, there's really nothing Microsoft can do outside of their own site to deter it.

The scalpers have the cost up to $199 now, which is just insane. No communication I can see about if and when the product will be back in stock from Microsoft...
