Can I use this gamertag?

Hey Enforcement Team!

I wanted to change my Gamertag so I checked to see if the one I picked was available and it said it wasn't available. So I searched for the profile of the supposedly taken Gamertag It said 'We could not find that person.'

I wanted to see if I could use this gamertag. (I don't want to disclose the GT publicly so I'll disclose the gamertag to you privately if possible)

Let's say i close this account.

If i close it, will i be able to use that gamertag name on another live account or will it still say that '' is occupied?

there is no real way to check to see if a tag is taken all you can do is try to change your name to it if it is taken you will not be able to choose it. also to note that the system does not notice the difference between caps/no caps and spaces/no spaces,
for example and Dave McFly 85 are all considered the same tag.

Even though the gamer tag can not be found it may be in use or have been in use, which would stop you using it. This would include people using it just for emails etc. You could try placing XX or || before and after it, ( like | NEW NAME | ) to see if
you can use it that way.

I, not long ago, worked for a games retailer and we often had foreign customers complain about this issue (taking a US console to other regions). If it works, it works, and that would be great, but it's just a concern I have.
