Can I use the Xbox One Controller's 3.5mm jack to plug in my headset for Windows 10 Xbox Party ...

    Hi All,

I am trying to play Gears of War 4 on my computer and have the game sound come through my speakers, but the voice chat come through my headset.

Currently I have the speakers working just fine, but the Xbox App cannot detect my microphone for some reason. It says "We can't find your microphone" next to my name.

I have a 3.5mm chat headset plugged into the controller and the computer detects it just fine. I can hear through the headset and the levels for the microphone appear to be working just fine in the Sound Properties.

Any ideas on how to get the Xbox Controller microphone working correctly in the Xbox App? Thanks!

    :)

    looking to get a headset...

I'm looking to get a headset for my xbox one, as I've got one of the new controllers with the 3.5mm jack, my question is, can I use ANY headset with this that has a 3.5mm jack, even if its one of those cheap $10 cellphone headsets, provided it has
    the required 3.5mm jack?

    Hello

The newer version of Xbox One controllers have a 3.5mm jack so you can plug in any headset which has a 4 pole 3.5mm connector in order to use that as a headset and microphone.

USB headsets do not work though

    Hi,

To help you with your concern, we need to gather more details. Kindly answer the following questions below:

    · What type of headset are you using?

    · Were you able to use the same set up before?

The Xbox headset is only designed to work for Xbox consoles.

If you are using a computer headset, we recommend that you test it using Skype.

We're looking forward to your reply.

I have never tried this setup before using the Xbox App, but feel it should work as every other aspect of my computer can detect and use the headset speaker and microphone. It is only the Xbox App that cannot find the microphone on this headset.

I am trying to use the headset on my computer exactly like it would be used on the Xbox One, through the 3.5mm jack. There is no reason this should not work because my computer finds the microphone just fine.

Alright, I have messed with different configurations and have found that it is because I was using Bluetooth to connect my controller to my computer. I plugged in the controller via USB and the Xbox App detected the headset and microphone immediately.

Is there a way to use the headset through the controller via bluetooth? Or will I have to stick with a wired connection?

Thank you for your immediate response. Bluetooth will only support the device that it will connect to the other device. So, we recommend connecting your controller to your computer via USB to be able to use the headset.

    Regards.

XBOX One Stereo Headset - Can't hear chat

    Hi Mr. Quimby,

To clarify - I have never had one of those communication bans. Not sure why iMac chimed in on that.

I went and bought a new controller, one of the new ones with a 3.5mm jack. Mixed Results.

With the xbox stereo headset - plugged in via the adapter I get the same results as above.

With the headset plugged in directly to the 3.5mm jack I can hear and be heard when in a party but not when I'm not in a party. That's at least better than it was.

Also strange that with the new controller the standard headset does not work.

Tonight, I will try plugging in directly via the USB cable, I'm assuming I plug into the port which I use to update the controller.

    Xbox one analog audio

Does anyone know if the Xbox One or its controller has a 3.5mm jack so I can plug my 3.5mm headset directly ?

I am using a monitor as well with my PS4 and I have my 3.5mm headset connected to the PS4 controller. I am going to receive an Xbox One soon and I was wondering if I could do the same or will I need an adapter ?
