    Can I use my Cable Box Remote while Xbox One is Connected through XBox TV?


    I have yet to hook this feature up and wanted to make sure before I tried.

    AFTER READING ALL THE NEG THINGS ABOUT THE ONE, I ORDERED THE....

    Just a heads up.......hook your cable box up.......i have full 100% functionality between my xbox and cable box......DVR/ONdemand accessable w/cablebox remote through the xbox one......no need to program the cable remote.....just use it how you would if
    it wasnt connected......

    Issue with Xbox One Cable Box Connection

    I have an issue hooking my cable box up to my xbox one. I plugged everything in and set it all up through the settings menu, then when i switch to the one guide app its says "Your Tv Signal was lost." I spent around 2 hours with microsoft chat support
    trying to solve this issue. we ruled out many potential issues including bad hdmi cord, changing display settings, running it through power cycles, switching tvs, switching cable boxes (although it was the same model cable box), reconfiguring the oneguide
    settings, changing sound settings, and ensuring everything was connected correctly. I use Time Warner Cable in Maine. My cable box model is DCX3200. I can use the one guide and can tell on the cable box display that i can change the channel but still no picture/sound.
    The cable box works fine when running directly to the TV. I did not have any issues with this when I ran my cable through the xbox while I was out at school with a different cable company/box so I know the xbox is capable of doing so.

    I am able to use my Genie remote with my Direct TV Genie box with no issues.

    Confirmed all the Xbox is doing is sending remote codes to the box to change the channels its not actually taking over.

    The XB1 controls your cable box, TV & stereo with an IR blaster, the same way your remote does. So you can control you cable box with any combination of your voice, game pad, the devices remote control and I believe your tablet / phone with the XB1 app.

    Yes - The Xbox One is required to be on (not off or in standby) to utilize the HDMI pass through

    FYI:

    This is best when you have an xbox one with the Kinect. If you do not have a Kinect, it may seem more cumbersome.

    If you have a Kinect, (or a IR cable that runs from the xbox one, into your SAT box) the use of the SAT box via the xbox one can offer simplicity.

    Turning on the xbox one, if you choose can turn on your TV and SAT box, as well as while using a xbox controller, smartglass, or the media remote, operate the SAT box with the *OneGuide which is the xbox version of your cable companies channel guide.

    *OneGuide is the app that allows you to watch TV, scroll channels, set favorite channels, jump from the xbox social or oneguide tabs to seemlessly watch TV via snap or full screen.

    I have an xbox one with the kinect for the main room and my kids and wife often loose the remotes so now, this has been a life saver as it operates the TV, SAT, xbox and sound bar simultaneously.

    The other xbox is upstairs in my office and it does not have a kinect however while on, i can still watch TV but the it requires me to use the other remotes.
