Can I use my 3 External Hard Drive's from my Original 2014 Model Xbox One on my New Gears ...

Hello I did some web searching on this subject, but I was unable to find a satisfactory answer. I have 3 USB 3.0 7200RPM External Hard Drive's, which are 2 Toshiba portable brand 1TB's and 1 Seagate portable 4TB. I have them all set up on my original 2014
Xbox One and I am going to be upgrading to the Gears Of War 4 Limited Edition Xbox One S soon and I want to make sure that I will NOT have to format them again or have to do anything that will wipe the installations I have on them. I want to make sure that
when I plug them in they will be recognized and be able to be used right away, without having to worry about reinstalling all my games again. Thank for any answers you can provide.

Xbox One to Xbox One data transfer

How do you transfer data from one Xbox One internal Hard drive to another?

I know this will sound like a ridiculously frivolous but I’m toying with the idea of getting the limited edition White console with Sunset Overdrive and then selling my existing Xbox One. But how do I get all my purchases and downloaded games from the
internal hard drive of my original console transferred to the hard drive of the new one? I’m guessing I can’t just physically transplant the drive into the new console. Will I need to use an external hard drive to copy the stuff over?

Still do not have the Gears 1-3 and Judgement download codes

I have purchased the Gears of War 4 Bundle pack that came with the xbox one limited edition xbox and I have yet to receive my download codes for gears 1-3 and judgement, despite having registered my ultimate edition on October 16th

You just need to plug it into the new console and it should recognise it and hopefully work without issue.

Yeah, you should be good. I, not long ago did the same thing when I upgraded to an Elite console.

The only thing different is it'll take a few seconds to recognise the drives, a couple of minutes to build your games list in "My Games and Apps".

The first time you load each game you'll get a pop-up saying "We're just getting your game ready", don't hit cancel, just give it 10 seconds or so and the game will load up fine.

Secondly, You saved games will need to be synced. Depending on the game and your connection speed this could be a few seconds or a couple of hours. For example, an indie game like Contrast will download in a flash on even the slowest speeds. A game like
Fallout 4 however, which can have up to 2GB in saves, on a slow connection can take hours.

It also seems that saves at all saved in the internal drive of the console, no matter where the games are stored. There doesn't seen to be a way to move them yourself either to an external source. So you have no choice but to download them.

That's about all to note about switching consoles really. I think I had one game that refused to work, I had to uninstall and redownload it. Other than that and the long wait for Fallout 4's saves to download, it was all pretty painless.

 

Hello. Once you plug the hard drive into your new console it will prompt you to format it for the xbox. once this is done, it should work fine

 

@H4NSOxBLADE I think you might have misunderstood me. I was asking for a way to use them WITHOUT formatting, as I already have them usable and are still currently using them with my large and bulky original Xbox One(NON-S-Model) that came out in December
2014.

If the drive has already been formatted by an Xbox One for storing games when it gets plugged into an Xbox One S it should just recognise the drive and allow the games to be played without asking to be formatted.
