Can I use an external hard drive for two Xbox One's?

I have an external hard drive which i use for my main xbox, but I put it into my other xbox one and it get's detected and it shows my games in the games list, but on the left hand side, it only shows the % for the original 500gb, not 7.5% which is
what it should be. I've even selected the external HDD on the storage menu. Any help? Customer Support on Microsoft isn't doing much unfortunately.

External Hard Drive Question

Ok, I will keep it brief. I have an external hard drive I wanted to use for my xbox one games, however, after it formats and installs the games onto the external hard drive, can I not use that same drive on my laptop? I was hoping to have it for both cuz
I have files on my laptop I wanted to back up as well. Or do I have to purchase two separate external hard drives now?

mine works i just got a second xbox one and i just plug and play and it works fine and showes the proper percentage.

"can i copy xbox one games from one external hard drive to another" Currently, you can only have two copies of a game (well, three if you count the one that's always in the cloud). One copy on your Xbox and one copy on a single USB 3.0 external drive. However,
you should be able to have two external drives plugged into the Xbox and use the Move command to transfer the game/games from one to the other.

As far as I know, you can use up to two external hard drives and that is it.

Could your friend be talking about an external hard drive with an Xbox One. You can use an external usb 3.0 hard drive with that console, but you can only use external storage upto 32gb on an xbox 360.

As for external hard drives, you can't partition them for use as both external storage for games and for use with your Mac or PC. You can use an external hard drive on the Xbox One as a media drive, though.

If you format an external hard drive for Xbox One games storage, the whole drive is formatted and the file system is changed.
