Can I Use a Slim Wireless Network Card as a Wireless Adapter for a Phat Console?

heres a backstory, i have three consoles total. on one of them, the dvd drive stopped working so i ordered a new one from amazon and tried switching out the boards so i dont have to flash it. but i soldered it wrong and didnt want someone else to do it.
since i *** it up, i figured i can save the network card since that is removable. so i just bought another slim. a friend of mine needed money so i figured i help him and buy his Phat console from him. still works. it is a zephyr console. so here is my question
. if i buy a usb extension, can i plug in the male end of the extension then put the wireless network card into the female end of the extension and use that as a wireless adapter to connect to wifi on my phat console instead of buying one for around $60?

Connecting to a Network

Are you using a wired connection? Wireless? What kind of Xbox? The old phat consoles or the newer slim/ugly duracell battery type thing?

Try scanning again for networks. If it's a phat console, remove the wireless card and re-attach it.

 

Xbox 360 Slim Wireless

Howdy,

If you have an xbox 360 slim console you won't need to buy a separate Wireless network adapter as there is one built into the console, you only need a wireless adapter if you have a Arcade, Pro or Elite Console (the Phat Ones)

you wont get any officialy supported answer to that question here as opening your console and changing hardware (even of the same kind) is a violation to the terms of use and can result in a console ban.

@prideloss i dont think its changing hardware. yes i opened the slim because the dvd drive was broken and it is now completely useless since i *** up the soldering with the board. yes that i did (try) to switch out the hardware for that but the wireless
network card is different case in my opinion because im taking it out of an unfixable xbox 360 slim and using it to try to connect to xbox live by using it as an external wireless adapter.
