Getting Xbox S series for grandson. HDMI from Xbox S.

If the monitor has DP should I use that for better bandwidth and speed?

If so what conversion cable is needed?

HDMI from Xbox to DP on monitor.

Monitor has HDMI also but thought DP would be better????

    TY

Hello dear Gamer, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

    My name is Vinicius.

I am a gamer and independent advisor on the XBOX community platform.

Hey Y, how are you today? Hope you're well.

In this case, unfortunately, Xbox Series S don't have a DP output. :(

You would need a conversion cable for that one. But, since Xbox Series S, only runs 1440p at 60fps, the HDMI 2.1 that comes with it, would do the trick already.

Why do I not have the option to change my Hertz allowed in my Xbox setting?

I see that now in the manual. With the DP it maxes out to 165, and with the hdmi maxes at 100. Is there anyway to get an adapter so I would be able to use the DP from the monitor to plug into the Xbox series X?

    Hi,

Highly, highly unlikely. To support Display Port would require a new motherboard design. In any case, HDMI 2.1 is 48Gb/s whereas DP 1.4 is 32Gb/s. Clearly HDMI 2.1 wins out here. The newer version of Display Port (2.0) is far too overkill for the Series X.

Not to mention that there lots of monitors and TV's now that support HDMI 2.1.
All true. I wonder whether the OP owns a monitor that is HDMI restricted? A lot of monitors currently will not go over 100fps/Hz using HDMI (even if the HDMI can handle it) and will only go higher if plugged into a DP connection
