connecting a laptop with an output hdmi

    hello microsoft team,

I would like to ask if its possible to play with my xbox using my laptop's screen (I am not talking about remote gameplay but directly connected with hdmi), I found out that you can even if its hdmi output by using an hdmi capture card, but I'd still like to ask for confermation.

if I connect my xbox to my laptop via hdmi by using my hdmi capture card, will I be able to play It normally, the same way I do when I connect it to a tv/monitor?
No. Conmecting your xbox to your laptops hdmi port will not allow you to use your laptop as a display.

An hdmi capture card would get plugged into a USB port on your laptop and your xbox would then get plugged into the hdmi port on the capture card itself. The hdmi port on your laptop wouldn't get used at all in this scenario.

That being said in my experience capture cards are going to have potentially several seconds of delay so they arent the greatest experience for using to game on directly vs just playing on a TV or Monitor.

    Xbox streaming

o set up your Xbox for streaming on two monitors using an Elgato capture card and an HDMI splitter, you can follow these steps:

    1. Connect Xbox to Elgato Capture Card:
      • Connect your Xbox to the input of your Elgato capture card using an HDMI cable.
      • Connect the output of the Elgato capture card to one of your monitors using another HDMI cable.
    2. Use an HDMI Splitter:
      • Connect the HDMI 1 input of the splitter to the output of the Elgato capture card.
      • Connect one HDMI output of the splitter to your first monitor.
      • Connect the second HDMI output of the splitter to your second monitor.
    3. Set Up the Monitors:
      • On your first monitor, you should be able to see your Xbox gameplay through the Elgato capture card.
      • On your second monitor, you can set it up to display the mirrored output from the HDMI splitter, which will show the same Xbox gameplay.
    4. Configure the Xbox:
      • On your Xbox, go to the Display & Sound settings.
      • Set the Display Mode to Duplicate (if available). This will ensure that the same output is sent to both the Elgato capture card and the HDMI splitter.
      • Adjust the resolution and other display settings to match the capabilities of your monitors.
    5. Configure Capture Software:
      • Open your preferred capture software on your PC (e.g., OBS, XSplit, or the software that came with your Elgato).
      • Make sure the capture software recognizes your Elgato capture card as a video source.
      • Configure the capture software to use the Elgato capture card as the video source for your streaming.
    6. Start Streaming:
      • With everything set up, you can now start streaming or recording your Xbox gameplay. Your Elgato capture card will capture the gameplay, and your monitors will display the output.
By following these steps, you should be able to display your Xbox gameplay on two screens while capturing it with your Elgato capture card for streaming or recording. Please note that the availability of certain settings may vary depending on your Xbox model and capture software, so be sure to consult the respective manuals or documentation for specific details.

Can I use a capture card as a hdmi For Xbox?

If the HDMI port is broken there is nothing to capture

Capture cards are also not intended for timing important things like gaming, Just capturing video.

You should send it in for repair or replace the console

    Xbox 360 HDMI Problem

Oh wow... I just fixed the problem after months of figuring out what the hell was wrong.

I decided to hook up my Xbox back to my capture card via HDMI and see if that helped. Still nothing.

On my capture card there is two HDMI fittable ports (really one). One is HDMI and the other is something like DB_AR.

The DB_AR port (which is in the shape of a HDMI port) is used for hooking up my connecter cable that allows me to use component cables, composite cables, etc in my capture card.

This is the converter you get with it: [View:http://www.alphacity.co.nz/images/imagingtech/imagingtech_2820.jpg]

I decided to put my HDMI cable into that port, blank screen, then take it out and put it into the HDMI port of my capture card. It said "Out of Range" and "1920x1080" at the bottom of the screen. I knew this because my capture card can only do 1080i. Straight
away I turned on my tv and hooked my Xbox into it and the picture displayed again!

Everything seems fine now and my HDMI port on my Xbox is working correctly.

    Finally....
