Can I Upgrade Xbox One HDD With A SSD?

Hello Guys, I have my Xbox One over 2 Months and now I am experiencing some slow down on my Console. And I think it's Because of the HDD which slows down my system. So I am thinking to buy a Samsung SSD and replace it with the Xbox One HDD. But, I don't
know whether it will work or not as I don't know much about Xbox Hardware. So, I need your help.

    Please Help Me. Thank You.

    :)

Sorry but what you're speaking of sounds like modifications to the console and are not allowed.

However, what you can do is purchase a USB 3.0 external hard drive with a size range between 256GB - 16TB to add to your console. I have added a 1TB drive and have found that load speeds have increased a bit.

You can have up to two storage devices attached to your console at a time for a total of 32.5TB worth of storage space. More than enough I would think.

Thank You So much. I am going to buy a 1TB External HDD and use it as my Primary Storage for Games and the Xbox One HDD will be for the System so that the Xbox One HDD don't slow down.

    Thank You Again.

  6. So... Are you telling us that if we go out and purchase a new Xbox One we are not allowed to modify it? it's simple physics that a SSD would increase performance, reduce power consumption and heat. Now by you saying it's not allowed, are cops going to show
up and arrest us if we decide to modify the Xbox One. Do we potentially face legal matters if we decide to modify a game console we purchase and own? Or is it just going to void a warranty?

  7. void the warranty. You won't reduce your power consumption by much either a few watts at best. Flash memory is really cheap. So cheap, in fact, that it’s too good to be true. In reality, all flash memory is riddled with defects without exception. The illusion
of a contiguous, reliable storage media is crafted through sophisticated error correction and bad block management functions. This is the result of a constant arms race between the engineers and mother nature; with every fabrication process shrink, memory
    becomes cheaper but more unreliable.

Flash your always storing a probabilistic representation of your data and that sense 'unreliable' more so than a mature technology such as hard disk drive which aren't perfect by means but there dam sight more reliable than floating gate memory chips.

Cops showing up at Your door highly doubtfull... But you do risk having Your live-account banned and posibly Your console as well, as modifying it violates the Xbox-live terms of use and Code Of Conduct.. and ofcourse as you've allready mentioned it will
    void Your warranty!

That's the thing with this. Microsoft could have put in 4GB and save themselves money by allowing the HD to be expandable like the PS3. I just hate that you have to go through all kinds of crap just to add more storage, especially with games being ALMOST
    mandatory to be installed.

Think about what would have happened if Microsoft went there original route. My oh my. I'm still a support of the Xbox One and enjoy it very much but Microsoft, could you please just make that one thing upgradeable!!!

  10. Storage Modifications are allowed... (Just voids warranty) Also, just make life easier on people and answer the question.

I'm sorry, but this EXACTLY how HDDs work too. they are constantly error correcting. You'd think over time it would have gotten better, but we keep increasing data density, making reads harder and harder along the way. The only real disadvantage of SSDs
is cost, and that they will not hold onto data near as long as an HDD (which could theoretically store the bits forever, but we all know how theory works) when powered off.
