Can I switch or gift an already purchased game to another account?

Recently, I have brought Call of Duty modern warfare vault edition, however I purchased it on the wrong account (on the same xbox 1 series s). Is there any way I can put the game on my other account?

I apologize but that’s not possible, if this was recently purchased through Microsoft Store you can request a refund by signing in to https://xbox.com/refunds.

As far as i know, if you've already done the purchase, its linked to your account. Not all games are gift-able, but the ones that are, you'll have an option under the purchase section to gift. im not sure you can gift after you've already purchased.

There is no way to get a refund, as it was a gift card, and there is no way to transfer it to another account. Is this gift card just money, or virtual currency for a game? If it is just money, then you can still purchase games with it, by purchasing the game as a gift for the account you want the game on. If it is virtual currency for a game, then there is nothing that can be done to move it to another account, so your only option would be to use it on the account you redeemed it on.

Sorry, I discussed this topic with another moderator and I realised that there may have been a misunderstanding from my side. I thought you redeemed a game code (which you can’t transfer to another account) and not a gift card like Microsoft balance.

So if it’s a gift card, then you actually can purchase any game as a gift and this is a possible workaround to transfer the game to another account. So the information provided by the virtual automated support agent was technically true.

If you’ve already purchased the game on the account with the gift card, you can request a refund and then purchase the game through the gift option.
