Can I save games from a 360 slim to an external HD?

I have a 2.18 Tb Segate external hard drive that i partitioned a 32 Gb section to FAT32. I want to save my games to it instead of to my Arcade's 4 Gb HD.

First off is this even possible? I searched for a while and I was unable to find any concrete answer on the subject.

Secondly once i connect the formatted hard drive to my xbox, it reconizes it, but won't let me configure it (keeps giving me the "can't preform action" error message).

Thirdly Is 16 or 32 Gb the maximum amount of space the xbox can use (I noticed mixed answers on this as well)

I don't want a microsoft usb or hard drive that's not what this post is about.

Connecting External HDD to XBOX 360 E

Can I connect external hdd from other manufacturers like WD, seagate ect to XBOX 360 E to save the games ?

 

Slim 360 and Broken 360: using external HDD as a 32gb hard drive

So i have a slim 250 gb 360 and a broken (disk tray) old 360. I want to trade in my slim and keep the old because the only game i really want to play is Tales of Vesperia which i have from games on demand.

So i made a 32 gb partition on my external hard drive and transferred Tales of Vesperia, Resident Evil 5 and Oblivion to the external along with my account.

on the slim:

The hard drive is working perfectly. The games run flawlessly and my account stuff is on there as well.

on the fat 360:

I plug in the external harddrive and it is not being recognized. The only option available is to configure now. But i already configured it. Its working fine on my slim. Keep in mind the broken 360 has no microsoft issued HDD and its devoid of all data.

How do i fix this? All i want is my broken 360 to use the external hard drive as its main HDD so i can play the games that i downloaded from games on demand.

 

Hi Metro, external hdd is not supported but flash drives are and the console can only use 32gb of storage.

 

External hdds are support if they are plugged in via USB. It is possible to save game saves to them. I'm not sure why the console won't recognize it though.

32gb is the max you can use on a usb device. You can have 2 of them plugged in at once for an extra 64gb of storage.

 

So the max you can increase your hard drive is to use two 32 GB USB drives to get 64 GB more space ? Then your unable to plug in an external hard drive of 500 GB ? My console hard drive of 250 GB is full. I had hope there was a way use a external hard
drive of 500 GB. Then essentially I could buy sixteen 32 GB USB drives to get 512 GB of space.

 

you could also buy a 320gb hard drive to replace the 250 gb drive that's full. It will snap into the same place as the one before it did.
