Can I return a bought DLC for a game?

I bought Don't Starve: Shipwrecked Edition very recently for my Xbox One. The problem is that I did not know that this ''game'' is just a DLC. I do not own Don't Starve, I just own the DLC, thus I cannot play it. My question is: can I return back the DLC
in exchange for my money?

P.S.: After I bought it, I went on the site where you buy this DLC, and it says ''Works with'' and shows the actual Don't Starve games. This suggests that this is only a DLC, but I still think that Microsoft should include a pop-up window before you pay explaining
that this ''game'' is only a DLC and will not work without the actual game. This would make sure that retards like me would not lose their money by buying a DLC for a game they don't have.

P.P.S.: Why can't I use a gift card to buy Xbox 360 games?!

Can I return a game that I bought in xbox store?

You would need to go to Sign in to your Microsoft account to see if you can start a refund there. If not, you'll need to contact support and speak to billing. 1-800-4my-xbox if you're in the US/Canada or Contact Us | Xbox Support

Dead Money is the only DLC that won't let you return after leaving. Lonesome Road, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, will let you return upon quest completion, with Lonesome Road being only DLC where you can return anytime you please during course of DLC,
except reaching point of no return there. If you complete all DLC's, you keep whatever you carry out of there and can use in game at anytime. You can choose to access each DLC at any point of your liking in the game, although certain DLC's are best left alone
till you get to a higher level character i.e. level 15 and up.
