Can I request a gamertag

Can I contact customer support and request an Xbox gamertag from inactive accounts because I read if an account is inactive for 2 years the gamertag becomes available but I’m not sure if this is true.

The account holder simply logging into their microsoft account to check their email once every less than 2 years would be enough to keep the account as active.

There's no way to request a gamertag. 2 years is somewhat true. If a person doesn't sign into their Xbox account within 5 years, the tag will be freed up. If they don't sign into their Microsoft account within 2 years, the account will be closed which should also free up the tag. There is no way to completely know how inactive an account is since it can be used across many Microsoft services.

The only way you'd be able to get a previously owned account back online is of you know the e-mail and password associated with it. If not then your chances of seeing it again go drastically down.

If you're trying to get a gamertag that says it's in use, then there is nothing that can be done. There is no way to request a gamertag.

No sooner no later your gotta wait for the gamertag lottery and wait for when it's free
