Can I replace my Xbox One's internal hard drive with an external one?

I believe the internal hard drive of my Xbox One is dead. Is there any way possible to use my existing external hard drive as the main hard drive or does the Xbox always need to have an internal hard drive?

My external hard drive is a Seagate Expansion Desktop Drive (4Tb)

Discussions about replacing the internal drive are forbidden on these forums. Unlike the PS4, the Xbox One One hard drive is not user replaceable.

There is no need to replace it anyway as that's what external storage support is for.

that or just buy an external hard drive. Example I have a 2 TB hard drive attached to my xbox one and on top of that I have replace my Internal Xbox Hard drive with a 1 TB Hard drive.

Those are the 2 options you can do if you don't want to delete anything.

As an idea for xbox one hard drives because they are internal and not external try plugging in an external drive to save or transfer all important games to external hard drive and leave not so important games onto internal drive
that way you can take them anywhere and not have hard drive failures with xbox one.
