Can i remove cc info if i use prepaid XBL?

So i always buy the prepaid XBL cards from Walmart or wherever to use rather than putting my credit card info in to the system on my account. Well i'm wondering if i can add my credit card to buy a game (RDR- backwards compatible; apparently the account
balances won't work to buy 360 games on my xbox one) then remove it afterwards since i already have XBL subscription thru prepaid? Or am i gonna get stuck with the whole "add new payment option in order to remove this one" crap? I know i can call XBL support,
but i've done this in the past with previous systems and it gets too complicated and my credit card info was still showing up in the system.

Question: Why Can't we Remove CC# Info Simply?

I truly do not understand why we simply cannot remove CC info in favor of a Prepaid Card without Calling The Support Line. It seems now we cannot even stop auto renewal on Live accounts. Someone please explain why we cannot change payment methods to Simply
use the PrePaid Cards.

I do not want to call Support since I know they outsource to other countries ... and I don't know exactly who I am talking to. So I do not feel comfortable giving my info out over the phone.

I really do not understand why removing a CC has to be THIS much of a hassle.

I've had this happen before. There is a simple solution but it does require Support as the Microsoft System for attached Payment Methods is a little notorious for being difficult to remove with issues.

First, if your current CC or Debit Card is expired and you have a new CC in the same name and number you will need a second card (any Prepaid Card with even zero on it will work if no pending charges are due). Next, add the new Prepaid CC and contact Support.
Now Support will be able to remove the expired CC if you can not do this from
Microsoft Billing. Finally, you will be able to add back the original CC and remove the Prepaid (temporary CC).

If in the future you see your CC is going to expire soon, you can add a temporary CC and remove the original CC without issues (before charges are applied to it). You can then add the new (not expired CC) back to the Account. The MS Billing side really needs
a lot of work and always had but once you understand how they are trying to protect charges from their end and what you need to do with your Account, it gets a little easier.

You can remove it after buying the game. The only time you have to leave it is if you use it as a payment method for gold.
