Can I put a disc on a hard drive without an Xbox one?

No. Even if you were able to save the game data, you would still need the disc in a disc drive on the console as the disc acts as your license to use the game.

I personally previously had tried removing my hard drive, restarting console without hard drive, then put the hard drive back in and restart, see if the game works... I don't know if it has that solution on the link i gave you, though.

hi you can install any your xbox 360 games that are on a disc to the hard drive, but you still need the disc to be put into the disc drive as it needs to read the disc to confirm that you do own the game.

I had it installed since day one also, without any issues. I really advise for any game this big, to install the game to your hard drive. It really puts a strain on your disc dive if you don't.
