Can I pre order a game using Prepaid Visa Card?

Ok so here is the thing...I want to pre order a game which is around $120 and I want to pay for it through a prepaid Visa Card the card was purchased outside of US, I bought for travel purposes so that I won't have to use my actual credit card for
safety purposes. and since it has some money left in it so I wanna use it. Will it work? If not then why wouldn't it and what are the alternatives?

Yeah it's legit. Though more and more companies are starting to accept them. Should be able to buy a pre-paid subscription card from a store and use it though, that won't require a credit/debit card on file.

Not sure how in 2016, you don't use debit or credit cards but that's just me.

Anyway, could someone else confirm if using prepaid VISAs work or not? You could always go to gamestop or bestbuy, use your prepaid VISA card on a subscription xbox live card. That should work. Perhaps order a digital code on amazon with your prepaid VISA. I'm pretty sure they accept it.

 

Some prepaid Visas may work, but only if they allow for international purchases. However, even if it does allow for international purchases is no guarantee it will work.

The easiest alternative would be buying prepaid currency codes from a retailer, which you could then redeem against your account, and you could then spend that money on the game purchase.

 

Microsoft have cracked down on prepaid as people was using them to buy games from different markets and Microsoft being the greedy pirates they are do not want to lose a single penny despite encouraging this thing with console region switching being easy.

Best to transfer the money of the card back to your bank account if possible.

 

It has nothing to do with Microsoft being "greedy pirates". Different countries have different laws regarding games and each region has a different currency. Plus, by having to use a credit card tied to your address, it proves that the funds are yours
and not someone else's.

 

It has everything to do with Microsoft and you work for them so your not going to say anything contrary to there ways,everyone knows Microsoft and the hatred for them is palpable but people have no real options as the control the market. There should be
an open market where all games price the same no matter where they are brought and the currency should always work out the same but Microsoft are crafty and greedy and the world knows it just like all big companies that dominate the medium they trade in.

Prices and promotions are set by the publishers in each region, If you're wanting to see a change in that, it's best to contact the publisher for the games you wish to purchase.

Maxen has the best advice on this one. Generally a pre paid card can work, but you need to speak with the card issuer first to authorize the transaction before using the card. Otherwise it likely will fail to authorize and you won't be able to complete the
transaction.

The safe bet would be to purchase currency cards with the value left on the card and then use those cards to purchase content on the Xbox Store. Or if possible, cash out the value in your local currency.

 

My comments are really about cross region as Microsoft allowed it but then seem to realise its costing them money and now cross region is not allowed now according to Microsoft.
