    Can I play on a monitor that doesn't have an HDMI port?


    I'm considering purchasing a monitor to play Xbox on that doesn't have an HDMI port. Is it possible to connect my Xbox's audio and video to the monitor without an HDMI port?

    Monitor goes black (in the middle of a game)

    I'll be playing a game and all of a sudden, the monitor goes black. I have to turn the monitor off, then turn it back on again (quickly) to resume play.

    Connection: HDMI cable from xbox360 to monitor.

    Details: The monitor is also used with my computer, this is never an issue - so I think I can rule out a problem with the monitor. When I use the monitor with the computer - I switch HDMI, monitor to computer. I have used different HDMI
    cables, so I think I can rule out bad HDMI cables.

    Can the xbox be causing this? Has anyone else experienced this problem? It really makes on line play impossible. Good for opponents though. By the time I get an image back up on the monitor, I'm usually dead!

    HDMI Problems with dual monitors.

    Hi. I have a dual monitor setup with a PC plugged into it. On one monitor I connect the HDMI Xbox cable to the HDMI port on my monitor. How ever, whenever I switch to HDMI mode on that monitor it just says, "HDMI No Signal" please help!

    As long as the monitor has the y/w/r or r/g/b hook ups and you have the wires for it then it should work

    I'd forget y/w/r or r/g/b. All you need is a VGA adapter. The VGA adapter has the r/w for audio output however should you wish to buy the official 360 version it comes with a r/w to headphone jack adapter thus perfect for PC monitor gaming. I can't link
    you to eBay due to forum regs however if you search "xbox 360 vga cable" you're looking at about £5 for a third party version.

    I just looked up that monitor and it doesn't have any Displayports, only two HDMI 1.4 ports and a VGA port,

    I don't think you can get an adapter for that monitor

    you can only connect the Xbox One X through HDMI.

    I had the same / similar issue with my old 4K 60hz none HDR / HDMI 2.0 monitor when watching movies and some times in games with the Series X,

    As soon as i upgraded my monitor to a 4K 144hz monitor that has HDR / HDMI 2.1 ports, i no longer had this problem,

    I'm not sure what the problem is, but my guess is that the HDMI 2.1 port on Series X doesn't play well with HDMI 2.0 port of monitors, or it's the Series X trying to force HDR on, even if the monitor does not have / support HDR and the HDR in Series X menu's is turned off.

    That's a very obscure monitor. The PDF doesn't even let you search with the usual keyboard shortcut CRTL+F...

    The manual doesn't list any timings for this display. And this monitor is not listed on AMD's website for approved FreeSync monitors, despite the monitor saying it supports this feature.

    What refresh rate are you trying to achieve? It's unlikely 120Hz will work over HDMI. The 240Hz refresh is likely locked to the Display Port interface.

    Your monitor has three HDMI ports and one DP port. Two of these ports are HDMI 1.4,
    only the third is HDMI 2.0 (its the one next to the Display Port).
    Make sure your console is using this HDMI 2.0 port.

    Try the screen at 120Hz and if that doesn't work try 60Hz with VRR.

    Other than that there isn't a lot else I can help you with. Your monitor may not be fully compatible.

    From what I could find on the internet, this monitor has two HDMI ports, one of them (HDMI 1) is an older HDMI 1.4 port, while the second one (HDMI 2) is an HDMI 2.0 port. I can only suggest you reconnect the monitor to the second port and try again.

    The fact that I had to go to a third party website just to find a manual for the R1800 doesn't inspire confidence in this display. The 'KOORUI' website wouldn't even open. Even if you connect to the HDMI 2.0 port, there is no guarantee this will allow 120Hz. Like most budget monitors, this display's main features will be locked into the Display Port which is for PC use.

    It's quite likely you're going to be stuck in 1440P @60Hz.

    It is a HDMI 2.0 port. I just read that article and unfortunately it doesn't help too much since my monitor is 1440p and not 4k. I can only choose the options I mentioned above for resolution/frame rate. I would think my monitor would support it, but I guess
    not?
    Unfortunately most monitors with HDMI 2.0 ports will only allow higher frame rates at lower resolutions due to the data transfer speed of those specific ports.
