    hiya - done all that but I couldn't download the installer as my laptop is so old and needed a new graphics card borrowed another lap top and it seems like its installing!!! once I've added them do I need the laptop still? do they need the launcher too?

    Yes, you have first to make a Epic account and download the Epic Launcher and connect your Xbox Account to the Epic account.. Then you have to invite your friends in PS4 by mail. Next launch Fortnite in Your Xbox and the friends will appear there.

    If on ps4 u can play fortnite with mouse and kb, i think we'll be able to play on xbox too. If not then imma just go and buy a ps4.
