can i play a download xbox one game on 2 consoles (my son and myself)

My son and i have both a xbox one, we live in the same house. I want to buy the digital copy of Evolve that is coming out on feb 10. Is there a way that i can buy it only once, and play the game on both consoles at the same time ? Thanxx for your replies

Question re: licensing and playing downloads on 2 consoles

Hi there.

I've been reading up on user licenses and console licenses for games downloaded from Xbox store and have a question

I currently have an xbox one console in my front room, I am considering getting an xbox one for my sons room for christmas so we can play multiplayer games together.

On the existing console I have a number of downloaded games that I can play on my GT, and my son can play on his GT as my understanding is that each download has a 'home console license' which allows multiple tags on that specific console to play the game.

My question is, if I were to download my gamer tag onto a new console, would I then be allowed to download those games onto the new console, as downloads also have a 'user license' allowing the gamer tag that purchased the game to purchase it on any console
that it is signed in on

Can I use my gold subscription over two Xbox one consoles at home.

Hi,

Forgive my ignorance but can I use my gold subscription over two xbox consoles, my son gs a xbox one s and I have an xbox one x. I pay for gold so my son can play online etc. I then bought myself a xbox one x console therefore can I use the same subscription
to enjoy gold as well.

You should both be able to play it no problems. If you are going to buy it with your own account, make your son's console your home console. Then you can allow family sharing on that console and assign your son's account as a family member. He can then play
anything you purchase as long as he's on that console.

Then you can go to the other console and sign in. You can then download and play any content you purchase as long as your account is signed in.

So, in theory, you can both play at the same time.

you can have one xbox as home, anyone on that console can play the game, you can then sign in on another console and play the game.

pc, i have found if i buy the game i can download it on my machine, and my 2 sons pc's and my daughters pc and they can play as i can install the game on upto 10 pc's (most of the time), this does not apply to gamepass games. some games throw up a licence issue, sea of thieves does this, if i play at the same time as my son it will kick us both out (this only happens on 2 titles i have though).

Hi i contacted XBOX support about this topic, its hard to explain, im sorry. i have 2 xbox ones in the house and i want to know if i set xbox number 1 as the home console can i play the games that have been purchased on xbox number 2 on xbox number 1. I
know that i can play the games that are downloaded on the profile, but both consoles are my sons, on one i have fifa 15 and on the other i have minecraft and titanfall. i would like to know if i set a home console can my son that sets his xbox as the home
console use the games on the other console ? other wise i have to purchase all 3 games again...

On the profile you set as your Home Xbox (whether that's son 1 or 2), ANY profile can play the games that your profile owns. On any other console, the profile that owns the content (yours, in this case) needs to be signed into Xbox Live in order to play
- however, it CAN be a passive player two while someone else is actually playing, but bear in mind your profile can only be actively signed into one console at a time (even if it's downloaded in multiple locations.

Scenario:

Son 1's Xbox is your Home. He, and any other profile, can play your games on this Xbox. Son 2 can NOT play your games, unless you are signed in on that console. So for Son 2, when you are not playing on your own console, sign in on his console and he can
now play all your games too. But as soon as you sign in on your own console, you get signed out from Son 2's Xbox and Son 2 can no longer play your games. Son 1 can always play them.

Also, you seem to have changed Home Xbox at least a couple times already. Bear in mind you can only change it three times in a calendar year.
