Can I pay a game with a gift card and the price difference with a credit card?

I'm gonna buy Rocket League for my brother, but, like he wanted it for christmas, we are gonna give him a gift card, so he buys the digital game, but there is a price difference between the game and the gift card, so can I pay with 2 different metods the
same game like in Steam?

Purchase DLC with two forms of payment?

I am looking at purchasing some DLC for a game. I may be able to purchase a Microsoft Windows Store gift card at a discounted/special price. So I would buy the gift card at the discounted price, apply the credit to my account, buy the DLC pack and pay
the difference with my credit card. This way I save some money.

So here's my example. If a DLC pack costs $50 and I buy a gift card for $50 (but it's on sale for $40), can I use the gift card to purchase the DLC and pay the taxes with my credit card? I would assume you could, but I have read some reviews were they
had problems with this scenario.

Anyone experience this themselves? If so, please let me know what you encountered. Thanks in advance!

Trying to purchase/gift a game using xbox

My son purchased a gift card for his friend that he is game sharing? with but accidentally applied it to his friends old account. He called Microsoft support and was told to purchase the game they wanted on the account with the $50 gift card on it and
gift it to the new account but for some reason it doesn't give him the option to pay for it with the money already applied to the account it only gives him options to pay with a credit card or a new gift card? How can he use the existing money on that account
to purchase and gift the game he wants?

Yes. If you start the purchase with the credit card the system should ask if you want to use the remaining funds (from the gift card once it's on his account) on the account first.

There is not a way to split payment between two credit cards. what you can do is purchase a xbox gift card with one of the credit cards put that xbox gift card onto the account then you would be able to split the payment between the gift card balance choose
this first as the first option that you want to use to pay then it will ask you how you want to pay the difference and then you can use the other credit card.

No. I am trying to clarify that i tried to pay for the game on the xbox app and i got it for the xbox one not for the xbox 360. I payed for the game with both a credit card and a gift card. But i never got a refund on the xbox gift card.

I don't think then can do that because the store is different. I know, you can buy X360 games on Xbox One but only with credit card, not with gift cards, at least on Brazil, and Rewards only give to you gift card.

Are you using a personal credit card or a prepaid credit card/gift card? Sometimes prepaid/gift cards will cause errors such as this.

If you can, I suggest trying a different payment method such as a personal debit/credit card or perhaps a paypal account. If you already are using a personal credit card, I suggest trying a different personal card to see if the issue persists.
