can i only use backward compatibility with games i've owned?

i don't own a game in the backward compatibility list, can i purchase it to use on xbox one or do i purchase it use on 360 then the transfer to x box 1 or if i've never owned it can i never play the game on xbox 1, Thanks

Bundle only?

I'm trying to use the backward compatibility on XB1, yet every game that i've owned on X360 says bundle only, i can still download and install the dlc for these games. any help would be great.

Hello BlueNoseLORRY,

No, you do not have to have previously owned the game to play it on Xbox One. If it is on the list of Backwards Compatible games, then you can go out and purchase them. All 360 games that you have previously downloaded and played on your Xbox 360 console,
will appear in your My Games and Apps section, under Games, and Ready to Install.

Hey BlueNoseLORRY,

You can either purchase the backwards compatible titles through an Xbox 360, or on Xbox.com - once the purchase is complete they should show up on your Xbox One in the Ready to Install section of My Games and Apps automatically.

Only games from the backwards compatibility list can be played on the One. https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/backward-compatibility?xr=shellnav If
you own them on disc, you can use the disc, otherwise, any games you already own digitally will be available in your games and apps as ready to install. Since the 360 Kinect is not backwards compatible with the One, Kinect games are not compatible.

No,i'm afraid not.Each console has their own version of Minecraft so you can't play between the two consoles.

The only time you can do that is on backwards compatible games but Minecraft isn't backwards compatible.
