My son is playing his account on the Xbox one. He's on the Xbox set as the home console. I log into the series x and send him an invite to join me but as soon as the game starts on the Xbox one it wants him to buy another game pass.

So just to be clear, I can log into Microsoft and go to the store and buy as a gift and put say my sons email address (he already has the game) and it just sends him a code so then I can pass that code to my niece at Christmas?? It doesn't have to be sent to the person I want to buy it for??

Yes I cannot make a purchase from my account. On the advice of Microsoft Customer Service I needed to buy gift cards and put them on my son's account so he could buy the game. We did that. He cannot purchase the game with the gift card money.

He can play games, but cannot purchase a new game. The charged me for the Ultimate Game Pass AFTER the account was locked to purchases. Just can't make purchases either by me or by him
