Removing payments from your Xbox accounts would not cause any account suspension, you can remove it and add different method. Just to clarify so there are no misunderstandings, the games stored in your external drives can't be shared and if for some reason they ended in another person hands they can't access them unless they use your account and signed in because they are encrypted. If you allow this it is a bad practice and against policies.

what you are going to do can lead to a full account ban, you are breaking the terms and licence agreements. the independent advisors do not work for microsoft and they are misleading you.

If your account is well protected nobody will have access to it however it will be your decision to take.

you don't own the games, you own a licence to play the game, this has always been the case with all software from all companies, when you own the disc you own the plastic only but they turn a blind eye when people resell them, digital games data is licenced to you, selling or transferring digital games is in breach of that licence.
