Can I install games offline and play them without a connection?

Im going away on a ship in a few days, and I just bought a Xbox One and installed the mandatory update. I have Dead Rising 3, Ryse and some other games on disc. Will I be able to install them and play them without any problem?

I know there are game updates for these games, but it doesn`t mean the game won`t launch wihout installing them, so please don`t comment unless you know for sure.

To put it simply. Yes, you can install the game and play it without the enhancements offline.

Ok kids, heres a realistic solution.

You can install your games and then put your disc back in the case and it can verify it ONLINE.

OR

You can play offline, still have to install the game, instead of an online check it checks the disc and allows you to play the game.

People who want the benefits of no disc swapping get it. People without reliable internet get to play offline because there are two ways to authorize a game.

 

I'm going to comment even though I don't know for sure....... why not just disconnect from your internet and try it at home?

 

Xbox One installation is so [profanity removed - thanks for not swearing in the future] slow, so I rather just ask you guys.

 

If I were you id just get all the games fully updated before leaving just to be on the safe side.

 

What does the install time have to do with it? You don't want anyone to comment unless they know for sure, but yet you don't want to take the time to try a game install without any net connection????

 

Well, I need to know this anyway. If im paying for discs that will become 100% useless the day Microsoft shut their servers down, I rather just return them..

 

For most games the answer is yes, although certain features or modes may be disabled (for example in Forza Motorsport 5, you won't be able to play multiplayer or have access to drivatars). Other games, the answer is no (For example, Titanfall is an online-only
game).

Off course I didn`t expect pure online games as Titanfall to work without a connection. I only want to know that the single player parts are working without downloading the patches.

Btw, have you tested Forza 5 without the day one patch? Its pretty huge.

 

I'm afraid I have not. By huge, are you referring to the size of the patch or the sizable difference in terms of changes between having and not having the patch?

 

Yes, the patch is 6 GB. Im a game collector, so its important for me that the game will run on my system forever, even without the day one patches for these games.
