Can I hear game sound through my headset connected to controller with 3,5 mm jack?

I tried all the setting, changing headsets, checking if they work with other equipment and so far I wasn't able to hear any sound from my xbox one. When I connect original headset from xbox one set the icon that it's connected appears but no sound can be
heard.

First I thought that this is working only with chat but I read recently it shall be possible to hear game sounds as well. So can you please confirm that xbox one controller is capable of playing game sounds.

Is it possible that jack in controller is broken?

P.S. The controller and xbox one is up to date.

Headphones on Xbox one

If you don't have 3,5 mm jack in controller and no adapter, you can connect headphones directly to the TV, but you'll be only able to hear game sound.

Xbox one controller lost audio (via 3,5 mm jack via bluetooth) after firmware update on Windows 10.

So i was using the new Xbox one controller with my Windows 10. I used bluetooth to connect to the PC and used the same connection for audio via 3,5 mm jack. It was working fine. Then I saw a post about updating the firmware of the controller. Connected it
through cable and updated. Now the audio doesnt work anymore. Only if I connect the controller with cable. But through the bluetooth connection - no more.

Any ideas why?

I'm using headset which was part of a xbox forza set (console, controller and headset).

I just checked skype and it works just fine but still can hear sound in games only via TV. Is it something with the controller type or I just cannot make a correct settings in my console?

 

You're using the stock headset that came with your Xbox One bundle?

That mono headset only inputs and outputs game and party chat on the Xbox One. You wouldn't be able to hear TV sound with that.

The issue is I can't hear game sound via headset - no matter which one I use. I've tried the one received with the xbox set and also the other one from Sennheiser.

The question is if this is possible to hear game sounds via my pad with regular headset or I need an xbox one dedicated as you're suggesting above?

You would not be able to hear game sounds with the chat headset that comes with the Xbox. That is solely for voice communication. To hear game sounds you would need something like the

Xbox Stereo Headset or something like that from a third party (Turtle Beach, Astro Gaming, ect). If you post the model headset you're having issues with perhaps someone in the community can assist you, or if you have another headset that fits the 3.5mm
jack in the bottom you can try that. Also if you double press the home button and check your settings, if the Xbox detects a headset it should give you some mix options like volume. Make sure that's all the way up.

 

Thanks a lot. For some reason the volume was completely off after connecting regular headset. Now it works just fine with my Sennheiser.
