Can I "gameshare" with one disc of a game on two in-home Xbox One units?

I currently have a two Xboxs in our home. An original Xbox one and an Xbox One X. The Xbox One X is our "home" unit. My son has his own Xbox gamer tag and I have my own gamer tag. We have a Xbox Game Pass Ultimate account under my gamer tag so able to do online gaming as needed

. While we have simply downloaded games on both Xbox units as needed, I was wondering if another scenario is possible.....

We have the disc game Far Cry 5. It offers online Co-op campaign playing. Me and my son were interested in trying this on the two Xbox consoles in our house. While I see articles and info online about "game sharing", is this mainly for digital games downloaded online? Is there any way of game sharing with one disc of a game? Or do I need 2 copies of the game?

No, the Xbox Home function only works with digital games. The disc inserted in the console is required to authenticate the game license.

Yes, correct. Digitally you can play the same game at the same time and only buy it once.

OK, that is about what I thought.

So, we are interested in possibly doing the same thing for the co-op campaign of Far Cry: New Dawn. If I went ahead and purchased the game digitally, we could then download it to each console and play together this way, correct?

There is an easy way to gameshare between two accounts in xbox one and that is through xbox home setting. For more info:

No it's two consoles.but you aren't understanding the limit

Gameshare works two ways

One the home console anyone can use the game and yes it is a limit of one home console legally as required by law

2 only the purchasing account can roam.on the second console as it has to be signed in to use its content

Either one of your sons will have to be on your account on the non home console
