Can I extend the warranty on an Xbox Elite 2 Controller after replacement?

Here's my situation. I have just sent in my Xbox Elite 2 Controller in for replacement since there were a couple things that have broken/need replacement over time. I have about under a month on the original year long warranty left. With the new replacement controller, is there an option for me to add another year or possibly longer on to the warranty? I have heard the controllers can be quite prone to stick drift and other issues depending on usage. Since I'm a relatively heavy user, is getting extended warranty an option?

Hi there.

The warranty for the Elite Series 2 controller in the US is 90 days from the day of purchase. After this period, the controller is considered out of warranty and is therefore not eligible for a replacement. If you took out extended warranty from the retailer
then this might be an option for you.

If not, I suspect $99 for a replacement is still cheaper than buying a new out from Amazon.

Yes you can. I preordered my Series X from Best Buy. I received it Nov 11th.

Just this morning I added the Microsoft Extended warranty for $49 plus tax.

You have 45 days from purchase date to add it.

It's a great deal in that it extends the warranty out 3 years (not 3 years past initial warranty, just 3 years from registered date) and covers up to 2 controller replacements (only 1 replacement if controller is the Elite) and 1 console replacement.

Best Buy wanted $69 and only extended 2 years and included only 1 controller replacement and 1 console replacement.

Thanks for that but the initial warranty on Xbox Elite 2 Controllers is one year, not three months. I'm wondering if there's a different policy regarding the elite controllers since they're more costly and people like myself would prefer to get coverage on the investment.

Yes as for the 1-year warranty you are correct, the policies for the Elite V2 are different in this regard, about the extended warranty after making the purchase of the product is not possible since you already have had it for a while. In your case, if the control gives a problem in the future, it would be necessary to pay the repair cost to Microsoft. As said costs may vary would depend on the situation.
