Can I convert account balance into a payment for Live?

Hi all,

I have an outstanding balance on my account, and I've had an e-mail saying I need to spend it in the next month.

Is it possible to use this to pay for additional Live membership? I figure I can pay for about an extra 3 months with it if so.

If not, I'll just have to find something else to spend it on.

Can't purchase ANYTHING. Wasted money on a gift card and can't use it.

Soccer is correct, any MS points cards that still exist automatically convert into a dollar value balance on your MS account. Also, there is no limitation as to what type of content can be purchased with your MS account - account balance, PayPal, or credit
card, they all function as currency.

Infact if you try to download something that costs more than you have on account balance it automatically asks you enter payment details

I'm afraid it isn't possible to use any funds on the account to buy xbox live gold.

You can use it for games, dlc and avatar items etc.

You can also split a payment on the funds and the remainer via a payment option, so partly via the funds and payment option for any of those items.

I believe that you can also pay with you account (your converted MSP) when it is less than the required amount and then have the remaining balance charged to your payment method on file.

You can pay the difference with a different payment method, if you have rewards points you can check if it's possible to convert those points into account balance, but you can't pay directly with the points

No, your points would have been converted to currency. You can check your account at
https://billing.microsoft.com and it will show your balance. If it still shows points, it will convert to currency after you try to make a purchase on the console.

If you're trying to make the purchase via the website, it hasn't fully been updated to use the currency so it will only ask to add a payment option.
