CAN I CONNECT TWO CONSOLES TO ONE ETHERNET PORT?

If it is in fact the ethernet port on the console, either connect wirelessly (if you can) or take the console back to the store for another one.

yeah...sounds like the ethernet port on your console is dead. One simple way to test this is to borrow a console, plug up your ethernet cord to it and see if that console will connect to Live. If so, then your ethernet port has been damaged somehow.

Firstly: Your laptop need to be installed with two network adapters. One being an Ethernet network adapter, and one being a wireless network adapter.

Secondly: Make sure your laptop has connectivity to the Internet.

Connect an Ethernet cable, from your laptop, to the Ethernet port on your console.

If you use Windows, as the operating system, you can then choose two different methods, ICS (Internet Connection Sharing), or Bridge Connection.

Have you ever been able to connect to live with this setup?

Via Ethernet cable? Yes, for the last 5 years I've used two ethernet cables (one was a replacement) to connect my console directly to the modem to use Live.

Your ADSL modem has one USB port and one Ethernet is that correct?

That is correct. Reason I don't use a USB cable, is just due to the fact that the modem is in a different room, so I use a 20 metre Ethernet cable to connect my computer/console online.

When your PC accesses the Internet do you need to click on "dial up" icon before you can connect, which contains a username/pasword to connect to the net? Or are you "always on/connected" on your PC as soon as it starts up?

For what I understood, your laptop don´t have an ethernet port, just wirelless, right ?

If that´s the case, you won´t be able to share your laptop´s connection with your console, which would solve your problem.

You will need a wireless router, or another computer which has either two ethernet ports or one ethernet and a wireless connection.

With the router, you can set it up to connect to your internet, using your credentials, so every device that connects to it are able to surf the web, etc.

With the computer you will need to folow this procedure :
