Can I access a hard drive connected to my network to play games that are downloaded on it...

I have the 500GB internal hard drive; mine is an older unit, with a 1 TB external hard drive for the games. For a media center, I have 2 networked 6 TB hard drives (that are not connected to the console directly) and have accessed the network drive to the
console.

The advantages of having an external drive is you are not limited to a specific size of drive. As long as it meets the USB3 port, it can be used as a game hard drive.

The hard drive would have to be attached to the console itself.

Finished doing the network transfer, and did a hard reset on my old Xbox One. When I downloaded GTA 5 onto my old Xbox's hard drive, the game was downloaded at a reasonable speed, which means that the hard reset fixed the hard drive.

I also looked at the hard drive connections, and they seem to look like the usual connections of an average hard drive. The only difference is that the last 4 connectors aren't used to connect the Xbox's hard drive to the motherboard. I did notice that,
on the Xbox 360 Slim, all the connections of the hard drive were used.

So if I can connect the console's HDD to one of my laptops with an external SATA to USB 3.0 cable, maybe I could change the boot settings... Maybe if I can configure the settings so that the HDD is used as the booting device, I might be able to change the
booting software... I would need to put the HDD back into the console to see if it works.

If it works fine, then I can then change the booting software to the booting software used for Windows 10. Then I'll have Windows 10 installed on the hard drive, and then I'll see if the Xbox One will boot...

This is totally safe! It is called gamesharing and it can happen when you use a family account, download digital games onto an external hard-drive and then connect that drive to another Xbox, and/or when you designate another Xbox as home (or vice versa).
Neither of you will lose access to the games and I believe you can both play the games at the same time if I remember correctly.

I explain you can be several things, in my experience sometimes:

- A bad network connection can be the detail, I recommend connecting the xbox for ethernet so that the installation is appropriate, (it is downloaded faster)

-Another option is to cancel the game and download it again, by ethernet

-Another option may be the sauracion of the hard drive but I don't think because you don't have many games installed
