Can disc installs run without the disc if you have a DLC code?

Hey

Just wondering, If I borrow a mates Titanfall and install it with the disc which would translate to lower downloading, can I then use my DLC code to play the disc installed game without actually having the disc?

I have Titanfall and Forza, both say to allow 40 gig each, my max usage is 100 gig, just seeing if I can cut download corners...

Curious if anyone knows!

I add that if there was the possibility to run the game without disc... you may ask a friend to give you a game, install it on your console, and then, play without the disc. It's not fair! As we have said, you must insert the disc.

You can install them in order for it to run faster and for the disc drive to be kept from running but you will still need the disc in the console.

If you want to play without discs you'll have to buy digital from now on.

 

You're asking if you can play a digital game you own, but install it faster by borrowing a friend's physical copy? If so, I don't honestly know.

I imagine they wouldn't duplicate existing files, only add new ones (like licensing info), so it makes sense that it would work.

 

How would you buy the code ? If a disc based game is on the HDD and no disc in the drive it will prompt you to buy it in the shop, at which point it would download, if you have the disc in the drive, when you go to the shop it prompts you to play the game.

 

I assume he'd have the code before installing the game on disc (or when prompted to download, without the disc, it would only download & install the additional files I mentioned above).

 

I know that GG, he would have the DLC code, but would he not need the full game code too, other wise we all buy one disc, install the game on multiple consoles, and use cheap DLC codes to play the game.

 

I'm confused by your post, tedi. What cheap DLC codes are you referring to? So far, going digital has been expensive.

 

The DLC code the op is referring to, he states, he wants to install a friends disc and use a DLC code to access the game.

 

For that to work, he'd need access to a complete digital copy of the game. The disc in this case is redundant except for the faster install time.

 

Exactly, where do you get the full digi code from ? If it comes with a bundle, you have one, if you try and buy it from the store it will start to download when you buy it so no point using a disc, and if you have the disc installed you may still have to
download the whole thing again. Only one way to know.
