Can connect to xbox live, but cant join parties or multiplayer games

I have no trouble connecting to xbox live, and am able to watch netflix etc...but when i go to play call of duty or minecraft, i cannot play multiplayer. Also I am unable to join xbox live party . I have tried doing the factory reset, and this hasnt worked,
when i go on cod and click multiplayer it comes back with message saying call of duty server s not available, yet i cant play minecraft with friends either, and when i put minecraft in, it does not show my friends who are online playing, yet im connected...please
help as i have been tryingto get back in game since jan 1st, and my account is paid up until june 2014 and is wasting away.

I cant connect to xbox live parties or multiplayer games.

I just bought this new router and I could connect to xbox live parties.

But the thing is that its been like five days and now I cant enter parties or join multiplayer games.

I dont think its my router (Belkin N300) I checked all the the setting and it still does not work.

By the way im using a wlan cable so I dont think its a Nat type problem.

i can join parties, but no multiplayer. My xbox live test was good but cant connect to xbox live???? i need the fix to this problem. oh and i have already opened ports,cleared cache, and restored to factory default.
