Can connect to internet, but not XBOX Live, using wireless or wired. Comcast Xfinity service

I am so beyond frustrated and could really, really use some help. Hopefully, someone will be able to get this problem corrected before we decided to scrap this whole system and go with another platform. Really don't want to do that, b/c of the $$ invested
in games, etc... This will be a long post with lots of info...Here goes...

We purchased our first 360 about 2 years ago. It worked great for about 4 months or so. Then, mysteriously, it had issues. It would no longer connect to internet, or do much of anything. We got several error codes, and worked with MS Support, and after
a lot of testing, trying various tricks, trying to use USB thumb drive for download, etc. it was determined the issue was a flash memory issue. We had previously purchased a new 500gb hard drive for the console, thinking that might have been the problem.
It was new.

Fast Forward about a month or so, we bough a new console, put the 500gb hard drive in it, since it was new. We hooked it up, and tried to run initial setup. We didn't get any error codes with numbers, like before, but, we still can't connect to XBOX Live.
This unit will connect to the internet, and shows that it is connected. My husband, a network engineer, has setup a static ip address. We tried it wireless, and then hard wired it . Still has the same results. It will connect to internet, but will not
connect to XBOX Live. We have followed everything we were told to do on the console, researched the net for any issues. We have found there seems to be some issues with Comcast connectivity to XBOX Live, but we followed everything in terms of port forwarding,
firewalls, etc. Still, no dice.

Just not sure what to do. I called the store where we purchased the new unit and spoke to them. They were extremely nice and the person I was speaking to told me that sometimes XBOX's can be quirky and that we may just have a house where the connection won't
work. We have spent hours on the phone with Microsoft support, and have also spoke to Comcast. We just want to be able to use our system the way it is intended to be used. I want to purchase the new Disney Infinity 2.0 for my kids for Christmas, but now,
I'm not sure it will even work. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP US!!!!!

Yes I have Comcast/Xfinity. can not cconnect to xbox live but my PC connects to internet.

The router/modem is one unit. Model is a Technicolor TC8305C. Thank you.

 

There is known problem with the Technicolor TC8305C and the latest version of firmware for this device, which were pushed out 10-22-2014. There's no estimation on when to expect an update to fix the problem with the current version of firmware.

The Technicolor TC8305C has always been notorious when it comes to connectivity with Xbox Live.

If you have an additional router, set your Technicolor TC8305C to be operating in bridge mode. In this mode, the TC8305C will only function as a standard modem, while an additional router can function as the NAT device.

If you need help with bridge mode, consult your ISP, and they can help you configure this mode.
