Can anyone recommend a surround headset that I do not need Kinect to chat with?

Cost is no object.

If there is a 7.1 virtual surround headset out there I can use that is excellent quality without the need for Kinect to chat I would really like to know. I originally wanted the Turtle Beach Earforce XP510 but there were notes on the page about using Kinect
to chat.

Advice is appreciated.

wireless true dolby headset

Can anyone recommend a good headset for xbox one please preferably white but black will do? Not turtle beach, i want my ears to be comfy and my px5 hurt after an hour. tia. also prefer true dolby surround.

Hey Wookie Groomer, you dont have to use the kinect to chat. You can purchase any of the turtle beach 360 headsets along with a chat adapter. Make sure that you go to Settings and turn kinect off as a microphone if you dont want to use it for chat.

You are going to be looking at legacy Xbox 360 / PS3 headsets that include a mixamp. The mixamp (external dsp) gets audio from the optical output on the console, so you are going to be limited to 5.1 channels (DD or DTS). That is a bandwidth limit of the
optical port. Any headset that includes a "chatback" cable that plugs into the 360 controller will work with the Xbox One Headset Adapter.

Thanks, I totally overlooked that adapter. I will get the headset I originally wanted then. It just sucks that I have to spend extra for something that should work without proprietary restrictions... thanks Microsoft....

After chatting with someone from xbox customer service they told me that it's the fact that I have a Turtle Beach headset plugged into the optical connector. I asked if the Kinect game chat would work if I had a surround sound stereo hooked up via the optical
connector and they said, "It should work with specific sound systems like 5.1 surround and other speakers. The things that we see here is that the Turtle Beach may have a configuration that does is not capable of receiving voice command but can only hear
during game chat" Does this make sense to anyone? Astro Gaming claims the Kinect voice chat feature will work with their headsets as a temporary solution until adapters are made available early next year.
