  1. Can Adult accounts “Adopt”child accounts?

I posted this to the support forum but got no responses so I thought I would try here.

My 12 year old son used the guest key to create an adult account on our Xbox one s. He was then able to go into the family settings and move his child account from my account to the “parent” account he created, bypassing all parental controls I had set.
I was alerted when I received an e-mail from Microsoft that he and my daughter were no longer part of the family. My question is, can any adult account take control of child accounts without the "original" parent entering his/her passkey? I've removed the
guest key but is there anything else I need to do to prevent something like this happening in the future?

I had also unchecked the box allowing the guest key to create user accounts but somehow he managed to get that checked. Any idea on how he was able to accomplish this? I know he doesn't have my password or he wouldn't have needed to create the adult account
    in the first place.

It would be nice if there was a feature that e-mails the primary adult account each time a new account is added to the console, or any settings on the Xbox are changed, letting them know what settings were changed?

    :)

My 12 year old son used the guest key to create an adult account on the Xbox one s. He was then able to go into the family settings and add his child child to "his" family, thereby surreptitiously obtaining the "parent" password and bypassing all parental
controls . I was alerted when I received an e-mail from Microsoft that he and my daughter were no longer part of the family. My question is, can any adult account take control of child accounts without the "original" parent entering his/her passkey? I've

Ok so in order for him to remove himself from the family under your account he would have had to of had access to your account.

once he removed himself from your family and his account when it was originally setup the date of birth on it being under 18 would have caused him to not be able to do anything until he was put as a child in any family. so I'm guessing thats why he created
the new account to put himself into a family so that he could get back into his account.

If you had a passkey setup on your account so that he would have had to put the passkey in whenever signing into your account on the console then he may have seen you put it in at some point or he figured out your password.

How can I switch my adult account to a childs account and make a new adult account

You can change a child account to an adult account, but you can't change an adult account to a child account. In order to manage them, you would have to create new child accounts for them.

How to bypass parental account thing.

Xbox Live determines whether an account is a child account or an adult account based on the age of the account owner. Child accounts are tied to an adult's Microsoft account.

After you reach the age of adulthood (which varies by country and region), you can promote a child account to an adult account. This promotion can be done only from the parent's account
