Can a stack of papers affect the 360 while it's off?

In the past there were a few times someone in my home would put a few papers or sometimes a folder full of papers almost the size of a college ruled notebook on top of my xbox 360 slim, it's always been turned off however. I just want to know, can anyone
confirm if this will affect the console in anyway?

I know it's probably a dumb question, but I have OCD about electronics breaking so it's one of the reasons why I'm asking this.

Still on Batman right now, Skyrim alone should last a good while. Considering limited playing time because of exams and research papers.

 

If it's off, it's no different than placing them on a table. The console isn't operating vents so it wouldn't matter. If the console was just turned off, I wouldn't advise it.

 

As long as it's not on and not recently turned off, it should be fine. Also don't put too many things on it, because you don't want too much weight on the 360 either.

 

Console off? Other than an eye sore no worries... Yet, on the 360 slims just grazing the power/eject button can turn it on by accident. Thus I would not allow people to place anything atop it whether its on or off.

 

I would adise against that practice. There are a few problems.

First, it will continue to introduce additional particles and other foreign debris that might be stuck on the bottom of the item placed on it (the Xbox). Second, depending on length of use prior it will take longer to reach an
ambient tempature. It will also have a different ambient tempature upon Start-up. Both of these can damage sensitive electronics over time.

It is up to you how you keep your paper-work and living conditions but surely there must be a place for this paper-work other then on top of other items. The Xbox 360 is already pretty fragile (made better over the years) but
I wouldn't push it's luck.

 

The console comes inside of a box surrounded by other equipment once you first purchase it. Doesn't that contain additional particles and other foreign debris as well?

 

Been a while since I purchased my 360, but IF memory serves. The console itself was wrapped in plastic. So even if, say particles of foam were to break off. They couldnt find their way inside the console without outside help.

 

ElectroFlying is correct. Almost all electronic devices are manufactured and packaged in a sterile and dust free enviroment. In addition, take special note of the word I used "continued".

If you want to place items where they do not belong or justify your reasons for doing so, that's on you.
