Can a 4k 50hz tv run games on the xbox one x in 4k?

I recently got a new 4k tv for my xbox one x but it only runs at 1080p.

I thought it was the hdmi cable so I got a new one that is 18gbps, which I thought would be enough but when I press 4k UHD it just goes back to 1080p.

I'm worried that the xbox one x doesn't support games at 4k 50hz and that I got this tv for nothing and i couldn't find any tvs at 4k 60hz.

I'm kinda lost.

They don’t sell TVs in the UK thst don’t support 50hz. In fact, all TVs support all broadcast standarss, they disable 50 on US TVs to keep them from being reverse imported to Europe.

What is the make and model of your TV, please also read your manual, as some will only do 4K on a single port

Yes I had bought it from currys, it's weird why they have it listed as a 50hz tv.

I want to agree with you that it's weird....however, for Currys, it is not weird! Their site frequently lists things incorrectly...sometimes they will list things from entirely different products like, for example, computer graphics cards having a DVI port when it has HDMI and DP. It's always recommended to double-check elsewhere

Are you from the UK and bought it from Currys by any chance? For some reason they have it listed at 50Hz. It is definitely a 60Hz TV

Regarding 4k: All 4 HDMI ports on that TV are HDMI 2.0b and capable of carrying a 4k signal

The only time you need to consider your ports is if you want to connect to a Soundbar as only one of the ports is HDMI-ARC (the port needed for the soundbar audio)

Thank you all for the help, I found out that there are different hdmi modes for versions 1.4 and 2.0 and it was on auto so I just switched it from auto to hdmi 2.0 and now it works fine.

Also I thought that TV was 50hz because the store I bought it from said on their website that the picture quality was 50hz but now with all your help, I realize that it probably isn't 50hz and plus my xbox says it supports 60hz so I don't need to worry. I also don't think if it has a dedicated 4k hdmi port but just in case if anyone else is having a similar problem, I'm using the hdmi 1 that's on the side with the headphone jack
