Can 2 people play on xbox live in the same house?

Apologies if this has been asked before, I can't find anything through searching. We have just bought an xbox 360 for Christmas. I've managed to sign my son up for xbox live to play with his friends online (we've not actually done it yet). However I'm
sure my other son will also want to play with them. Can they both play at the same time on the same xbox? We have 2 controllers.

Are you and your girlfriend trying to play at the same time from the same console? If so then it depends on if the game allows it. Otherwise the answer would be no.

CAN 2 PEOPLE PLAY XBOX LIVE AT THE SAME TIME. Finally got a high speed connection and me and my girlfriend want to play together in a online game. We both have the 1 month free gold account activated. Do we have to have a family gold account?

Yes but only if the game supports coop or multiplayer on the same console very few do halo is one of the few

yeah you can , even if its on the same Xbox , you can multiplier games with each other , to find out how many people you can play with on a game check the back of the game case . and also if you ever have problems with your Xbox talk to Xbox support or
go to xbox.com/service alerts

Thanks a million, they're on minecraft at the moment and the game they would want to play with their friends. We also have halo reach. It says on the minecraft box 1-4 people and 1-8 people online

As Lactos292 stated it depends on the game. It also depends on what game mode you're referring to. Multiplayer and Co-op modes will vary from game to game in terms of the numbers of players permitted. Certain games that have multiplayer don't have splitscreen.

But, generally yes, 4 people in two houses can play together on Live.
