Campaign help - Dam jump

Hi,

I'm really enjoying this game but have hit a wall and am hoping for some tips...

I've reached the part of the single player campaign where you need to jump across some scaffolding to grab some ladders but it has me stuck. I'm using the default controller settings and try the following:

- line up to the middle of the ladder

- hold the left analogue stick forward and press "a" to jump

I've tried holding "a" whilst in the air as well as clicking it madly.

Any tips would be appreciated!

You should just be able to run and jump automatically grabbing the ladder. Are you clicking the analog stick to run?

 

Yes. Should I not be using the analogue stick?

PS I've not gamed for years so I'm not the greatest gamer!

 

Just run at it and jump. It will grab hold itself. Welcome back to gaming.

 

Yeah just look at the ladder, sprint at it and you should just attach yourself to it. This is at the dam right? Perhaps you're at a section where you're already supposed to have (SPOILERS) clicked in the C4?

 

Yep that's the bit...

As far as I'm aware, I've done the c4 bit - I just dont grab the ladder and fall every time.

My return was going so well up to this point

 

Press the toggles (left or right toggle, cant remember) to sprint and I guess the X button for any actions (just in case) like grab. The X button is the only "action" button.

 

I'm starting the mission again, if it doesn't work then my BF4 career is over!

 

OP, thank you for posting your dam questions and asking for some dam help. If you are dam frustrated, don't give up. Just think of all the dam bad guys you've killed just to get to that point. In the end, the dam mission is worth it and after it's over,
you just won't give a damn anyway.

Once you've clicked the C4 to blow up the dam, you've completed that section of the mission, jumping off just kills you.

 

That ladder is jump is a bit tricky, but as others have said sprint and leap at the last moment and your character will grab on. I failed mulitple times at that point and did find it annoying, as its a simple jump that seems a bit glitchy and hit and
miss.

 

...well, I'm back and still stuck! Argh!
