call of duty xbox one disc drive

Do you experience this with other games or just Call of Duty? And could you specific which Call of Duty game disc this is? Have you checked to be sure that your eject button is not jammed somehow?

A few people have listed having some issues with Call of Duty on their Xbox One X (specifically). Do you have an Xbox One or Xbox One X?

Windows Central posted a work around for a fix that seems to be hit or miss, but if you have an additional
drive, is worth a shot.

Let us know if that doesn't work, or you don't have an additional drive. A physical copy isn't likely going to solve your problem, as it would still install from the disc. It only uses the disc for validation that you still own it.

I own a physical copy of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. I bought it in early 2020 and have been playing it on Xbox One.

It's as if the Xbox doesn't recognize I have the license for the game or something. In the store I can find the Modern Warfare digital copy for full price.

I can also find Warzone for free and it says "Includes Modern Warfare". Except it doesn't work.

If you own a physical (disc) copy of Call of duty, then it's the license for the disc version that you own. Since the Series S has no Blu-ray drive, any disc games you have installed will not work as they require the disc to prove ownership.

I'm afraid as the Series S has no optical drive, you will have to re-buy Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2019 as a digital purchase. This also applies to all other games you own on disc.

If this is not cost effective to you, then your only option is to buy a Series X, which does contain a Blu-ray drive.

It's odd that this is happening with all call of duty discs, Mark. Can you please try playing the Warzone which is a digital game that does not require disc for us to test if it's an issue with the game or the disc drive?

We've got firsthand experience with this one, and the issue is a little more prevalent than PlayStation's equivalent. If you buy Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare on disc, beware not to allow the game's update to download when you first insert the disc into
your Xbox One. We said yes, and the game was unable to install from the disc. It ends up looping between "Installing" and "Queued," occasionally spinning up the disc, then quitting, then spinning again, then quitting again, ad infinitum. In the business, we
call that "pretty whack." If you end up in this situation, we've got a tested solution -- and it works, at least on my Xbox One -- care of Crave Online:

1.Remove the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare from the Xbox One disc tray.

2.Navigate to My Games & Apps, then select the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and hit the Xbox One gamepad's Menu button.

3.Select "Uninstall game" and hit A

4.Re-insert your Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare game disc

5.When asked whether you want to install the game's update, select "Update later"

6.The game will install like normal! Hooray!
