Call of Duty going to a 3 year cycle?

'Kinda, but not just one world. It would be different maps, like we have now and constant tweeking, updating, security for hacks, adding maps, etc, but you would NOT need a new disc every year'.

I predict a few things happening:

1) The price of DLC goes up and playlists and other features get locked with without the additional content with increasing frequency to cover revenue lost due to no longer selling a game every year.

2) A subscription is added yearly to cover the loss of revenue due to no longer selling a game every year.

.

3) Other game developers realise they can use Activision/Call of Duty as a scapegoat that lets them do the exact same thing and suddenly every game you play is charging separately for Multiplayer, or locking the SP, or overcharging for DLC, or putting out
two versions of a game with two sets of Achievements or whatever else they can think of. Believe me, they'll think of all they can and it doesn't end pleasantly for you or us.

There's also a degree to which the game would be stagnant compared to how the series is now: there would be no technological or graphical enhancements and no gameplay additions or changes across the years. After two years the next mega-game would *have*
to come out or everyone would move from Call of Duty and they whole money-grabbing scheme would run over again. More people would be charged more money to get *permission* to play an old game that would likely be pervaded by hackers, without any support outside
of paid content all the meanwhile setting the same toxic trend for many of the other big developers who would do the exact same thing to more than half of the games on the 360 market into the future.

It might not be perfect as it is and I understand wanting to have it better but you've got to be careful with what you wish for because no matter how bad something is it can *always* get worse, and it will.

Rather be cynical than gullible, naive and vulnerable to having high hopes shattered. I consider myself very cynical in the prime of my youth and would love it if people were just a little bit sharper.

 

Yeah, theres good and bads as with everything, with the idea. A monthly fee? Maybe in my eyes it would be worth it. You figure a 60$ game and $40 dollars worth of DLC, could be covered in a monthly fee, plus maybe it would get rid of some of the "riff raff".
Kinda like the difference in going to a local carnival or going to Disney World. Youll pay for Disney, but it is that much better, and no "riff raff". Just an idea.

 

point is the ghost story line was and always will be an after thought...

They only care about MP by design, now GTA is story line rooted.

 

If single player is omitted, then they ought to make a "vehicles included" playlist. Bring back our preferred map option in mp settings if you're not playing in a party. At the very least bring back the "Random" selector in lobbys. Not sure why Ghosts omitted
that, too many maps get repeated while others aren't seen for days..

 

Next gen, treyarch and two years to go hard. OH MY!

I was thinking more along the lines of the full price for the game, then close to the same price in DLC that eventually becomes required to play and a monthly or yearly fee.

3 years is an interesting take on it. I would love to see what they intend to come up with. As for SP, keep it. I look forward to seeing if the new COD SP on Veteran is even worth being called it or not.

 

live for 360, will last another 3 years, so a 3 yr plan is used to keep y'all from losing your mind when there is no new 360 COD in 2 years.........

 

If they are switching from 2 years to 3 years I don't see why they would cut single player out. Basically 3 years to make a cod multiplayer? They would probably make it in 10 months and then just put it into storage for 2 years.

 

A Vietnam sandbox campaign with music from the era would be my prefered take on single player.

Creating an imersive experience using the above components in a class based co op mode, like extinction (Really like the fact that teamwork is needed to suceed) against the VC and the NVA with Fortunate son belting out of nearby vehicles and GI's radios
would have me playing single player over and over.

Seems the developers don't want to venture away from the tried and tested campaign formula though.

Time for the developers to start taking chances as it's all getting a bit stale.

 

WWll or Vietnam is the only way to go in the next COD IMO.

If they go Vietnam they HAVE TO get the rights to Fortunate son. Just use the money they would have given to Eminem.

Either way I would like them to go back to a gritty feel with more gore (the gib factor from waw). WWll and Vietnam were sad, dirty, gritty wars. I'd also like some of those classic sounds to come back. I feel like the guns had beautiful sounds to them
in Cod 4 and WAW.

 

Call of Duty Ghosts was the first Campaign I have enjoyed in a while from the COD franchise
