Call of Duty: Ghosts gets drug related DLC!

By road accident I mean a vehicle collision, or a pedestrian/cyclist being hit by a vehicle. Well, I guess it can't be an accident if you decide to drive under the influence of drugs.

 

@BHC, I agree that it will impact the amount of accidents if legalized. And ontop of that the new Sub Forms of marijuana consumption are very potent with little known about long term affect.

Our younger youth today are ingesting these sub forms at an alarming rate.

It will evolve into a form soon enough that it will render the user unable to operate as if they were intoxicated by a heavier influence.

I agree that marijuana is not bad just mostly unhealthy. Legalization should not happen... Decriminalization though should be highly considered by our and other nations government.

And to the guy that commented about the marijuana coming from south of the border I promise you that market is dead. America and Europe manufacture the best marijuana in all the world. Don't sweat mexico's

 

@BHC Have you ever heard of the organization Mothers Against Drunk Drivers? Yes? Now have heard of their sister organization Mothers Against Stoned Drivers? No? Know why? It doesn't exist. Marijuana doesn't impair your motor functions that way. Of course
even in the states that have legalized it, it is illegal to drive under the influence. But that's more about liability and a better safe than sorry policy than the actuality of "Oh no people are stoned they're gonna crash!" Have people crashed while high?
I'm sure. But chances are that person would have crashed anyway.

I am a 41 year old married male with two children and am a law abiding citizen with a social conscience, from the age of 15 until January this year I smoked ALOT of cannabis every day and guess what, I didn't ruin my life, it's no more dangerous than a glass
of red wine, many many people around the world view cannabis as a normal every day thing, so why should their opinions not be represented in a video game aimed at a mature market?

Sure minors play CoD, they may see drug related content, but that does not mean they will become drug addicts, just as playing the game won't make them murdering psychopaths.

I think people should just accept the fact that cannabis exists in the real world and that the real world is often reflected in video games.

Maybe then society can have a proper discussion about the current laws regarding Cannabis...

The DLC is catering to a specific part of the COD audience. I can recall many a match with players talking openly about use of marijuana before during and after matches and this is the DLC for them. I wouldn't go as far as saying that this is promoting
it's use, more acknowledging it's player base who use it.

I have stopped many drivers who have been stoned while in control of a vehicle and the reason they were pulled was due to the manner of their driving. Now, well maybe all those people were bad drivers whether they were under
the influence of cannabis or not, but as soon as they start speaking you can tell that they are not fit enough to operate a motor vehicle.

From the research I have done THC does impair your judgment, ability to concentrate and slow your reaction time. Not being able to concentrate while operating a motor-vehicle and having slower reaction time increases
the chances of you having a road incident.

I just went to Mothers Against Drunk Driver's website and they seem to also be against drugs. Now, they don't mention which drugs.

@Bluez I dont think the legalization of Marijuana will lead to more accidents. And if it did the number would still be small compared to alcohol related crashes.

All in all regardless if you smoke marijuana, dont smoke it or dont care about it, you cant sit here and say it has no place in video games if you are playing a game with questionable material. I just dont understand how marijuana in games is offensive and
not murder. Or the fact that Dragon Age will have an openly gay character.

 

If it's not related to a game,i don't see the point to do that.....

A blunt DLC in GTA or Saint Row,why not.But in COD,none of these games did a story about drugs.

I think it's common sense that legalisation of marijuana will lead to more accidents. Of course, not as many as drunk drivers. Totally agree with you, I don't think Marijuana or any other drug in video games is a bad thing. I think
it's silly how a game like Call of Duty: Ghosts that has nothing to do with drugs are having this DLC.

 

@BHC It seems you don't know the specifics of the effects marijuana. So you're looking to outside sources, most likely written by someone else who has never experienced it for himself. Marijuana does indeed alter your mind. That's the whole point. It makes
you happier, things that aren't that funny, become hilarious. A food you otherwise wouldn't like, suddenly looks delicious. Depending on what you're doing, it also can cause an increased state of paranoia. Which is likely what a stoned person will experience
while driving. So if marijuana were to cause an accident, it would be because the person was driving too slow in an attempt to be overly careful.

Marijuana does not impair your motor functions. Obviously that extends to reaction time. It has been pointed out several times in this thread that many people playing Call of Duty are "potheads". Multiplayer gaming relies entirely on hand eye coordination
and fast reaction time. Things that would be hampered if those abilities were impaired. I have seen various sources that have claimed reaction is slowed. But speaking from experience, I can tell you that's simply not true. It's right up there with studies
that have shown "Vaccines cause autism" Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

 

Where was the outrage over the rubber ducky skin IW put out? Oh thats fine because its just a duck? Ducks have nothing to do with COD, and neither does marijuana. Be outraged at everything that isnt related to the game. Not just one thing.

I still dont think legalization of marijuana leads to more accidents. Are more people going to smoke weed because its legal? Possibly, but we dont know. Maybe we should ask Colorado or WA residents if the numver of accidents has went up since weed became
legal.

 

If the number of accidents had gone up in those states, politicians would be all over it likes flies on poop. The fact that nothing has even been hinted at is proof in itself. But what has been mentioned, is the percentage of overall crime, especially violent
crime, has since dropped

 

I feel the same about duck skin in COD.

Fact: Drug addicts are going to get Marijuana legalized in most every state.

Fact: Marketing drug related imaging, such as marijuana via a games DLC isn't the Parents fault, it's the game developers fault. For...

Fact: Game devs knew what they are doing. While 99.9% of parents (Unless they visit these forums constantly) have no clue whats actually being pushed onto their children via online gaming.

Fact: Marketing such ilk via DLC is a form of Subliminal Messaging. Which is in, and of itself. ILLEGAL throughout the US.

Final Fact: I was going to buy CoD Ghosts, and Black Ops 2 to add to my collection of Xbox 360 games. But after carefully pondering what's actually going on in the minds of devs these days. I wouldn't give them 1 cent for both games now.
