Call of Duty Data Pack 1 (again)

Hi, I've recently acquired Call of Duty Modern Warfare and wanted to just play the campaign. After several hours of downloads I've tried to start it and keep being told that I need Data Pack 1 in order to play the offline single player mode.

Unfortunately it won't connect to the store to download Data Pack 1 unless I pay for Xbox Live.

I've visited the store to see if I can download this Data Pack separately, but I can't.

As per the recommendation on another thread about this issue, I've used my account to go to this page:

to download the Data Pack and then push it to the Xbox. I've downloaded it, it says I own the Data Pack, but when I try to install it to the Xbox I get a notification screen that says:

'Thank you!

We’re attempting to install on your selected device(s).'

and then nothing actually happens.

So, couple of questions:

1) What fresh hell is this ****?

2) Do you not grasp the concept of console gaming?

3) How do I install Data Pack 1 without buying Xbox Live?

I've sorted it myself, Microsoft are probably too busy trying to sort out Xbox Series X crashes to help us plebs.

All you have to do is go to the link above (can't find it through a search from the main page it seems though), click to install it on your Xbox. It'll say it's trying to install it, but it's lying.

Then go back to your Xbox, find the game, click 'manage game', don't click on the updates tab though, click on the game itself and have a look at the installed add-on packs, then at the bottom, there's the option of clicking Data Pack 1 and 2.

Oh and maybe clearing your temporary MAC address might help, might not. Was recommended in a vid, but dunno if that was responsible for this working.

Then save those changes and it should start the installation process of another 18GB of data to download.

Well done to Microsoft and Activision, really put me in a positive frame of mind to play your game now.

There are other packs that you may need to install, such as the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare - Compatibility Data Pack 1 18 GB.

you could also try clearing your Persistent Storage.

To clear this storage cache, follow the below procedure:

Press the menu key of the controller.
Go to Settings > Disc & Blu-Ray.
In the BLU-RAY section select "Persistent Storage".
Select "Clear persistent storage".

I would suggest doing a hard reset. to do a hard reset follow these steps.

Holding the power button down for 10 seconds while the system is on will perform a hard reset Xbox One Will Switch Off.
unplug your power cable from the back of the console and from the power outlet for 1 minute.
then plug the power cable back into the console and power outlet.
Power on the Xbox One again.
You’ll see a green start-up screen. your data is preserved, but the cache will be cleared.
