    Call of Duty Cold War won't load on Xbox Series X


    So after 2 days of problem solving here is what I found out. I bought COD:CW for Xbox one. After I got my hands on a Series X I bought the next gen upgrade. Well the other day I noticed that there are 2 versions of COD on the store (Xbox one and series x) and according to the store I owned both. the install for the series x was smaller so I uninstalled the Xbox one version and installed the series x version. I tried to launch the game, the splash screen would come up and then crash back to home screen. I tried EVERYTHING! restart, hard restart, reinstall (3 times), reset the console...etc.. After 2 days I uninstalled the Series x version and reinstalled the Xbox one version with the cross gen unlock and low and behold it worked! Is there any difference between the versions? How can I get the Series X version to work.

    Hi!

    Maybe you have the Xbox One version of COD Cold War and you see that message because the Xbox One version cannot be upgraded to Xbox Series X. You can find more informations about COD Cold War editions here:

    Call of Duty Black ops Upgrade to X/S

    From what I can tell, to access the Series X version of the game, you need the Cross-Gen bundle...once you buy that, you should then be able to download and install the Series X version. Without the cross-gen bundle it will, presumably, just install the XB1 version

    From the Store page:

    "For digital owners of the Call of Duty®: Black Ops Cold War Standard Edition, this upgrade will unlock the Call of Duty®: Black Ops Cold War Cross-Gen Bundle, giving access to the Xbox Series X|S version of the game. After upgrade purchase, search in the Xbox store for the Call of Duty®: Black Ops Cold War - Cross-Gen Bundle to install the Xbox Series X|S version of the game."
