I know it's a pipe dream but maybe, just maybe, if every time we fine individuals who frequent this game make it a point to put "remake Call of Duty 3 NOT MW3" somewhere in every social media post or tweet, text msgs, emails, and google search it at least
5 times a day, MAYBE it can get enough attention to actually become a reality.

These days, everything is read and searched by the NSA anyway, who in turn sells any relevant info to the highest paying marketing firms, who in turn use the info to make trillions of dollars on our off-the-cuff ideas and remarks by actually creating products
based on data hoarding results. So let's use this to our advantage my fine friends and frenemies, and have our voices heard and messages read! YEAH! WHOO'S WITH MEEE??!!?? #remakeCOD3notMW3

Hey Noble! While I can't swear to what may come in the future, for the time being, the Legacy Edition is the only way to obtain MWR. According to Activision's FAQ:

"Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare Remastered is only available through the Legacy, Legacy Pro, and Digital Deluxe editions of Call of Duty®: Infinite Warfare."

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but hopefully this answers your question. And who knows, maybe in the near future, they'll make it available separately! Seems like an odd revenue stream for them to close off permanently.

 

Just imagine CoD3 on the Xbone, with updates graphics and maybe a few more weapons, like an unscoped Springfield for the Allies to match the Axis K98k and a Gewehr 43 for the Axis to match the Allied M1 Garand!

That would make the teams more even, and possibly stop everybody from joining the Allies every game! Especially on Poisson.

Also, it could have an option to turn vehicles off on certain maps, especially once again on Poisson!

 

It would be AMAZING! REMAKE CALL OF DUTY 3, NOT MW3!

One thing I thought of the other night was that it would be a nice feature to be able to sabotage/boobytrap vehicles (tanks mostly). Say you come across a tank in the enemies spawn, but you don't want to drive the thing. You should be able to drop a grenade
in the top anyway to stop the enemy team from using it and/or rig a mine to explode upon entering... Just some thoughts....

 

Or play a new game and deal with the fact that it will never be remade and the matchmaking will one day cease to exist.

 

All of which are possibilities, but just because they may one day shut down the servers doesn't mean they shouldn't be enjoyed until they do.

Also, they've remade tons of games much less popular then this. Perfect Dark is a good example. They remake to cash in on nostalgia, and with CoD 3 coming up on its 10th birthday the time is ripe to reestablish the cash flow by tapping into a the market
with a fresh ad campaign (along with fresh graphics and clipping lol)

Call of Duty 3 doesn't run off servers, it uses a peer-2-peer connection, so when somebody creates a game, everybody joins on the host's connection (i believe). So as long as people are creating games, it will never die!

In a few years, when people are sick to death of the modern series of Call of Duty, they will come back to CoD3, so there will always be a fresh influx of players!

And you never know about a remake, they have remade worse games, like you said CK! So fingers crossed for a Classic Call of Duty Pack for Xbox One & PS4!

 

I'm pretty sure it has a matchmaking server tho, and then the connections all join up using P2P as the maps are server side but the actual game play is P2P.

 

Yeah that certainly sounds plausible, unless the matchmaking is for the Ranked matches, with the pre-game lobby and all that! With the Player matches being purely P2P?

 

Matchmaking is for all games as the people need a server with a static IP address to jump onto, as the home user uses a Dynamic IP nobody could "lock on" to another player unless the player bought an ISP package with a static IP, just like buying a domain
name, and then the owners would have to add that static IP to a list of available servers and then the owner would have to have very good UL and DL speed/reliability.

 

Hopefully, MS just forgets about the fact that this server is even up and allows it to be buried in the annals (am I allowed to say that here?) of time. Untouched. Unaltered. Unless, of course, they...
