    Cable TV Freezing through X1


    I had an issue with my cable yesterday freezing for about 30 seconds and then it would work. It kept happening on a regular basis, DVR, On Demand and Live Cable TV. I thought it was an issue with my provider, but figured out it was the XBOX 1, all is good
    after a power cycle of everything, (unplugging the X1 and Cable Box) There has been issue's before, but not like this. I didn't know if anyone else had this issue, I'm not to thrilled about putting my equipment through a power cycle once a week for various
    issues, but that is the price you pay for adopting new technology I guess.

    no surround on x1?

    HD component cables for my cable box into my TV and the HDMI for my cable box Into the X1 so I can watch it with or without the X1. My surround works perfectly when watching TV through the X1 with this set up.

    Problems watching television when xbox one is off.

    Are you using the HDMI pass through from the cable box through the X1 to your TV. If so you will need the X1 turned on or no signal will reach your TV

    it is likely in the future cable companies replace the standard boxes with x1, with contracts and/or fees of course.

    @OP. If you have your cable box connected through your X1, then I believe the answer is yes. You must have the X1 on to watch TV.

    Just a curious question, why would you run your cable box through your X1 if you aren't wanting to take advantage of the features the X1 gives you with viewing tv through it? Again, just asking.
